River

A river is any water with a constant freshwater flow bounded by banks

Stream

Water flowing over land which does not have a constant flow

Creek

An arm of the sea in which the tide flows and re-flows

Navigable

In law a  'navigable' river is defined one where the tide normally flows and reflows. In navigable rivers the soil is in (owned by) the crown
